Here’s a little how-to for you to make your own:
Materials You’ll Need
Compost
Powdered clay
Seeds (native plants and pollinators work best—we did sunflowers and milkweed for large seeds, and California poppies, yarrow, and flax for small seeds)
Water
Bowls
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Mix together 5 cups of compost with 3 cups of clay powder.
2. Slowly mix water in until it has a clay-like consistency.
3. Roll the mixture into a block.
4. Give each child 2-3 large seeds, 5-6 small seeds, and about an almond sized piece of the clay/compost mixture.
5. Have each child press the large seeds into a compost mixture ball.
6. Then, press the smaller seeds into the outside of the seed ball.
7. Leave the balls to dry in a sunny spot.
8. Plant your seed bombs by placing them in shallow holes.
9. Water and wait to see what pops up!
