Nature's Pumpkin Craft: A Simple DIY for Cranky Kids
On a recent blustery fall morning, our kids were tired, crabby, and unable to stop quarreling. I knew getting outside was the solution we needed, but couldn’t get anyone to leave the house. So, I came up with this craft on the fly with the first step of “go collect leaves outside.” Miraculously, it worked to end their battle, reset our nervous systems, and buy me 30 minutes of peace to drink my coffee.
Passing along to keep in your back pocket:
Step-by-Step Instructions
✂️ cut cardboard into the shape of a pumpkin (used a pizza box from the night before…you can really see the grease stains 😝)
🍂 go collect leaves outside (kept them out as long as I could, way beyond the quantity needed)
🎃 hand them glue, leaves, and the pumpkin cutouts (they opted for gluing the leaves in the shape of their first initial)
☕️ sit back and enjoy your beverage of choice
